Operations for Iran movie theaters are set to be halted temporarily for the holy nights known as the Laylat al-Qadr (the Nights of Destiny).
According to spokesman of the Guild Council for Public Screenings in Iran, the country’s cinemas will close their doors on June 13 at 7pm local time as a mark of respect to the holy nights of al-Qadr in the Islamic lunar month of Ramadan.
The cinemas will be closed on three more days during the al-Qadr nights, he added.
This year, June 13, marks the sad occasion when Imam Ali (AS) was fatally injured by a sword.
The cinemas will be back in full operation as of June 18, Gholam-Reza Faraji also said.
In Iran, a series of nights falling on 19th, 21th and 23th of the holy month of Ramadan is commemorated as the Laylat al-Qadr--the occasion when the holy Quran was revealed to the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (PBUH).
